Hello it is the first Sunday of Advent.\u00a0 The beginning of the church year for those who follow the liturgical calendar.\u00a0 \u00a0Also the beginning of Christmas in earnest for those of us who don’t.\u00a0 \u00a0 The wild whirl of singing, extra services, gift buying, also general partying is beginning.<\/p>\n
But what of Jesus, how do we know Jesus is the Christ the promised one?\u00a0 The Gospel of Matthew answers that.\u00a0 Not only by Jesus life death and resurrection but by pointing to the many prophecies of the old Testament.\u00a0 \u00a0Predictions of Jesus life and characteristics date back to the book of Genesis.\u00a0 By showing that Jesus fulfills those prophecies we can show he was the promised Christ.\u00a0 \u00a0 For this Christmas season we are going to look at some of the prophecies of Christ and Jesus and his life.\u00a0 \u00a0This week we are going to start with Jesus ancestry.<\/p>\n
