They had asked God for a King. This was not only an insult to God but also a rebuke to Samuel who had ruled justly.

They tried to row the ship back to shore so they could save Jonah’s life. God had other plans.

They sailed from the Fair Havens. It was a good harbor but very isolated. The Captain and crew wanted to winter over in a larger harbor near a city.
