He was troubled. Though he was raised as a Jew Herod did not have a claim to the throne as he was not of the House of David. Indeed he was an Edomite rather than a descendant of Abraham.

Specifically we are looking for Herod the King, also called Herod the Great or Herod the Builder. Installed by the Romans as King of Israel. Also he would kill anyone including his own family who was a threat to his reign.

A Merry and Christ filled Christmas to all. I’m up at my families also preparing to spend Christmas with them. I hope you are spending Christmas together with family and friends.

This week our topic is the slaughter of the innocents. Perhaps the earliest time in the Bible where the world tried to stop Jesus. That failed attempt failed and also all future attempts failed. In conclusion God lived, died and rose again according to his own  timetable.
