Weekly Update 12/03/2017
Hello it is the first Sunday of Advent. The beginning of the church year for those who follow the liturgical calendar. Also the beginning of Christmas in earnest for those of us who don’t. The wild whirl of singing, extra services, gift buying, also general partying is beginning.
But what of Jesus, how do we know Jesus is the Christ the promised one? The Gospel of Matthew answers that. Not only by Jesus life death and resurrection but by pointing to the many prophecies of the old Testament. Predictions of Jesus life and characteristics date back to the book of Genesis. By showing that Jesus fulfills those prophecies we can show he was the promised Christ. For this Christmas season we are going to look at some of the prophecies of Christ and Jesus and his life. This week we are going to start with Jesus ancestry.
