Forgiveness of others was not a common practice in the Old Testament. But to show God’s mercy some examples of that existed. Which prophet forgave his wife of repeated sins to show God’s mercy toward Israel?

It is the prophet Hosea.  At God’s command he then forgave his (prostitute) wife of repeated adultery.

Fighting a cold these days but otherwise all is going well. Welcome and again welcome to all our newcomers. While I don’t want to keep repeating myself.   I am and remain grateful for all of you and your visits. Thanks for reading also don’t be a stranger.

The topic for this week is human forgiveness. We all want and also need God’s forgiveness. But we are often not willing to provide it to others.

A story would explain it best. Many years ago I was visiting a church while traveling. I was attending the Wednesday night service. The message that night was on forgiveness which struck me as pretty basic stuff for a Wednesday night. For those wondering, yes I was about to learn a lesson. We then broke into small groups and I was shocked at how many of these committed Christians admitted to trouble in forgiving others. When it came to my turn I just said well I guess I’m a forgiving person. Folks we simply must forgive. Not only does God command it but from personal experience I can tell you that following this command will not only honor God, but will give you peace as well.
