In Luke 15 Jesus told of thee occasions for rejoicing. What are the reasons for rejoicing?

The shepherd found his lost sheep. The woman found her lost piece of silver. The prodigal son returned to his father.

Returning from being sent out two by two. The Apostles rejoiced that even the devils were subject to them. Why did Jesus tell them to rejoice?

Jesus told them to rejoice instead that their names are written in heaven.

In the Sermon on the Mount Jesus said to rejoice when people persecute us for his sake. Why are we to rejoice in those circumstances?

We are to rejoice because our reward in heaven will be great. The same persecution was give to the prophets.

Well I missed church this morning due to a special family commitment. In my defense I sang at two nursing homes for services yesterday

For those who follow the church calender this is rejoicing Sunday of Lent. It provides a bit of a break from the austere days of Lent. This we are going to talk about rejoicing in the new Testament.
