In the Sermon on the Mount Jesus said to rejoice when people persecute us for his sake. Why are we to rejoice in those circumstances?

We are to rejoice because our reward in heaven will be great. The same persecution was give to the prophets.

Well I missed church this morning due to a special family commitment. In my defense I sang at two nursing homes for services yesterday

For those who follow the church calender this is rejoicing Sunday of Lent. It provides a bit of a break from the austere days of Lent. This we are going to talk about rejoicing in the new Testament.

They arrested them and put them in prison. In a some cases God sent angels to release them.

They went to Pilate and set a watch(guard) over the tomb, also they sealed it. Both were ineffective when the angel came down to roll away the stone.

Caiaphas thought the Romans would destroy the nation if they believed in Jesus. He said it was better that one man (Jesus) die than that the nation would perish.
